Whatever could Google want with an airline IT company? Well, considering that company, ITA, supplies travel information to websites such as, CheapTickets, Bing Travel and Orbitz, quite a lot, actually.

Word on the street around Silicon Valley is that ITA is looking for $1 billion from the sale, which sounds like a lot but when you consider the potential of getting in on the act of supplying travel information to fliers—particularly in these uncertain, volcanic ash-fueled times!—but it'd be crazy for Google not to jump into it. Especially when Microsoft is doing so well out of Bing Travel, and there's a wealth of potential for Google to incorporate such travel information into its Android OS. [Reuters via TechRadar]

Next up: Google Planet, where Google just owns the world! Will consist of: -

Google Food, where fortune cookie-like desserts will be served (free of charge of course), but will have an ad instead of a fortune, based on your meal choice.

Google Travel, where your daily commute will be plotted for you depending on your chosen form of Google Transportation (car, bus, train, etc), telling you local shops on your journey

And others which I'll think of a bit later...
