Few artists in the world have the perfect command of lighting, color, and oil media technique of Yigal Ozeri. His always sensual and sometimes disturbing hyperrealistic art—which usually focuses on women in dreamy and contemplative states—is simply stunning. Warning: Some paintings are NSFW (nipples shown).

Wow this guy is amazing. I must admit I don't fully understand this form. About eight years ago I noticed a rise in the use of the photo realistic form from painters around the world. At first it was focused on glass objects and water, then it morphed into a new form of photo realism, one which included bad framing and some of the abnormalities in digital photography. I am convinced that cell phone cameras and the overall increase in the use of photography in society sparked the start of this trend.

From what I can tell viewing this work off an internet browser, this guy is top of the heap. All these folks have subjects they work with so the girls are probably not from the imagination, the technique is the fireworks not the subject, so the issue of it being all from the mind is not so important. If ever there were a painting that realized that old narrative trope of coming alive this guy is the one that will paint it.

While I am still getting my head around this form I could not clap any more loudly in appreciation for the talents of these folks, from this guy to the person who paints beach waves and the woman who has mastered the glass jar, there are stupendous talents out there. The problem with modern painting, for those artist who are not interested in shocking is not talent and technique its the subject, what does a modern audience want as the subject. Bowels of fruit and pompous portraiture is over and has been for some time. This form sort of answers that question in a backwards way, the audience wants that stuff people post on FaceBook, they want photography and they want a today subject.

This guy is totally mind blowing, he should go one step further, do some paintings of a massive scale, take Chuck Close one step further, no abstract patches that make up a massive face, just pure talent and technique on display. The subject should be a full close up of one of these girls faces, make it almost confrontational. In a sense the subject would be saying loudly, this is me, but what is really going on is the artists saying, this is me.
