MorphWiz Turns Your iPad Into a Synthesizer

Jordan Rudess, of Dream Theater, has created an audio synthesizer app for the iPad that promises to deliver an audio and visual experience. Just watch him play it.

You're probably not as talented as Jordan (no worries we aren't either) so luckily, the MorphWiz app comes with 50 presets that'll allow you to immediately create pretty sounding noises and eventually with some luck, music. If you do happen to be a musician, MorphWiz also offers a ton of different synths, effects and visual options that can be tailored and customized to your ear's liking.

The app is essentially a vertical grid based instrument (inspired by the Haken Continuum Fingerboard) that explores the iPad's versatility. Even if you can't make good music, you'll surely be able to create a visual mind trip since you can assign audio waveforms as visual shapes. If you want to get even crazier, you can add full-color, animated particles, fire, and ring effects to complement your noise making.

If you're at all keen on tinkering with electronic music or looking to experiment with new mediums, the $10 cost shouldn't be too inhibitive. As for the musically disinclined (like us), we'll just sit back and watch the eventual rush of Youtube videos. [MorphWiz, MorphWiz App]
