VLC used to be the premo app for anyone who wanted to play any sort of video (movies, tv shows, etc.) on their iPad. Sadly, it was pulled from the app store. Luckily, there's It's Playing. It's like VLC except you can download it RIGHT NOW.
Google's official video player for Android, long available for Honeycomb tablets, finally works with Android phones (2.2+). VUDU, the streaming movie and TV service, is trying to cut Apple out of the profit picture by circumventing the App Store with a webapp. This way, Apple doesn't get money off of VUDU's movie sales and rentals.
