Legion, our favorite trippy mutant fever dream, is returning for its second season next month. To help get viewers up to speed, FX has released a recap of the first season that, uhh, kind of forgot the recapping part.
The latter half of last night’s episode of Mr. Robot was as taut a thriller as the show has ever done. But the first half was a descent into a late ‘80s/early ‘90s sitcom that was as bizarre as it was amusing.
Hot damn! After a couple of weeks of dull slogs and tedious jaunts into the waaaaacky world of Elliot and friends, Mr. Robot is back on track. This shit just got real good.
The first 10 minutes of last night’s Mr. Robot didn’t follow through on the murderers out to find F Society hackers or the hunt for F Society by the FBI. Instead, it took a break and cast us into a dreamlike flashback to the origin of F Society, and of Mr. Robot’s most pernicious villain: Mr. Robot himself.
Mr. Robot was a thrilling experience because it touched on real-world issues and concerns in a way that felt visceral and grounded. And now, USA’s latest drama, Colony, seems to be pulling off the same trick—only for an alien invasion story.
In a previous Mr. Robot recap, I predicted Elliot Alderson will join Don Draper and Walter White as one of the iconic male antiheroes of 21st century TV. After last night’s season one finale, I think Elliot is also on track to becoming the definitive hacker in pop culture history. SPOILERS AHEAD.
Last season on Extant, Halle Berry starred as an astronaut who got inexplicably pregnant with a killer alien baby on a space solo mission and brought it back to Earth. In season two, the inexplicable plot points pile on, resulting in a guilty pleasure dripping with everything you love to hate about scifi.
