Comic-Con 2015 is over—but that doesn’t mean there still isn’t news coming from out of the Con. We brought you pictures of some of Marvel’s newly-announced toys revealed at San Diego from the show floor, but Hasbro have now released promotional images for all of their new reveals for you to get a better look.
DC have unveiled a whole host of new action figures at Comic-Con. Want to see what’s coming to your Toy shelf over the next few months? Here’s a breakdown of all the new toys coming from the world of DC.
Hasbro’s Comic-Con breakfast has arrived, and with it, a plethora of new toys to gawp at. The company has unveiled some brand new figures in both its Marvel and Transformers lines, while they’re all pretty smashing, the best news of all is that the fabulous Spider-Gwen is getting her own toy!
Comic-Con has begun, and that means one thing: Oodles and oodles of new toys and merchandise to look at. First up is a new range of DC statues based on Batman v Superman—inadvertently giving us our best look yet at the heavily suited-and-booted version of Batman from the movie.
With Marvel skipping Comic-Con this year, Batman v Superman plans to dominate the Superhero movie talk at the convention—and the movie is bringing in the merchandising to help do so. We already got our first look at the Funko Pop! Batman and Superman, but now we’ve got a look at even more toys!
Excellent poster-makers and awesome vinyl distributors Mondo have slowly been getting into the action figure market recently—and while their recent “Original Turtle” figure was pretty damn amazing, this latest figure takes it to a whole new level.
I’ve frequently described Funko’s vast range of little Vinyl figures as a force that feels like it’s slowly consuming the entire toy world. Case in point? Our first ever look at merchandise for Batman v Superman, one of the biggest movies of 2016, and it’s of two adorably big-headed, vinyl toys of Batman and Superman.
When Yvonne Craig made her debut as Batgirl for the third season of Batman, she dazzled the streets of Gotham in a ridiculously glitzy Batsuit. Now that we’re finally getting merchandise based on the classic show, Batgirl is heading to the toyshelf at last—and she’s as wonderfully glitter-laden as ever.
Star Wars has a noted history for creating toys out of even the most minor character, or the smallest costume change. Guy with an ice cream maker on Bespin? Action figure. Blue George Lucas? Action figure. But this Boba Fett toy being made for Comic-Con is perhaps the most bizarrely specific Star Wars toy of them all.
Star Wars fans: Did you know that the hologram of Darth Vader that appears in General Veer’s AT-AT in The Empire Strikes Back was 20 inches tall? If you did, then wow, that is some spectacularly detailed trivia you have in your noggin. Your reward? This accurately scaled, bright blue Darth Vader figure.
Marvel might be skipping SDCC, but its exclusive toys aren’t — Hasbro’s latest figure set for the Con would like to remind you that Ant-Man is coming out, and it’s going to do so by housing some Ant-Man figures inside the shouting head of Hank Pym. Pretty weird!
The Doctor fights monsters all the time on Doctor Who — but in Titan’s San Diego Comic-Con 2015 special, he’s monster hunting at the biggest nerd event of the year. io9 has the exclusive first details, as well as some gorgeous covers and a few Who toys making their debut at the con!
And that’s not a knock against Penny Dreadful — I just never expected to see any merchandise for it, let alone some pretty dang fabulous action figures of Ethan and Vanessa. Need a period-dressed Eva Green action figure in your life? Look no further.
When Hasbro’s team of all-female Transformers arrives (and sends irrational people everywhere into conniptions about gender roles in Cybertronian society), they won’t just be hitting the comics: Hasbro has announced a second Transformers exclusive toy for San Diego Comic Con, and it’s all about the ladies.
A few weeks ago we got our first look at the new Force Awakens Stormtrooper action figure, our first step into the wider world that will be the movie’s merchandising frenzy later this year. Even more pictures have emerged, revealing a fancy box for the toy, hinting that we might be seeing it even sooner than expected.
Remember that bit in The Voyage Home where Spock swims with some Whales because he’s goddamn Spock and he’ll do as he pleases? Well, the maddening merchandising glory that is San Diego Comic Con will never let you forget, because said scene is now a Bobblehead that you can buy at the con. What a world.
I’m a big fan of DC’s “Designer Series” figures, where the artstyle of a particular DC artist is painstakingly recreated on a poseable action figure. But this latest figure, based on the art of Batman: Hush artist Jim Lee, takes that design ethos to its most incredible extreme.
During Pacific Rim’s opening montage, protagonist Raleigh Beckett briefly laments that Humanity has turned their fear of the monstrous Kaiju into the cute toys seen above. But now you can own these adorable little Vinyl figures, so honestly who cares what a fictional character thinks of them? Gimme Gimme Gimme.
Mezco’s 6.5” tall Dark Knight Returns Batman figure is already one of the best ever renditions of the Batman in figure form. But as a special bonus for San Diego Comic Con, the figure is getting a great upgrade that just makes it all the more fantastic.
