A good friend of mine loves Superman. He's a lawyer now, but he can still tell you why the electric Superman of the late '90s were an abomination as easily as he could explain who has the rights to the phrase "App Store." This deal is perfect for him. Because he's cheap.
The box set—unfortunately not lead-lined—comes with 14 discs and seven Superman "movies." You'd probably ask how they got to seven when there were only four Chris Reeve and one Brandon Routh flicks, but they count the Superman 2000 expanded edition and the Richard Donner cut of Superman 2 as separate movies.
Nevertheless, for $35, you get all these on DVD, plus a crapload of extras. It's a shame this isn't on Blu-ray, but I'm not sure you'd really want to see some of the earlier films in such high definition anyway. Hell, Superman Returns was on TV in HD recently and Routh's costume looked pretty absurd. Maybe it's better to keep these movies, as well as your memories of them, fuzzy. -JC
