Oakland-based artist Annie Vought carves paper-and-ink notes of correspondence into intricate sheets of lace-like lettering.
Focussing on the text, structure, and emotion of the letter, she removes every trace of white space, in an elaborate investigation into the characteristics of writing and expression, penmanship and form.

Vought explains that despite their apparent fragility, the finished sheets are in fact quite strong, supported by the handwriting and lines that are "quite strong and sculptural." [Colossal]
