The original 1960s Spider-Man theme song might be a classic, but it isn’t one of “those” kind of classics. You know, the ones they teach in high school to inspire you to stand on your desk at shout at captains. But that isn’t stopping Zendaya from giving the theme song the dramatic reading it “deserves.”
Vanity Fair recently shared a video of Zendaya performing a straight reading of the lyrics for the Spider-Man theme song, giving weight and gravitas to iconic stanzas like: “Wealth and fame, he’s ignored. Action is his reward,” “Listen, bud, he’s got radioactive blood,” and, of course, “Look out, he comes the Spider-Man.” It might not be on the next midterm, but it’s still required knowledge. Look out, here comes Zendaya to lay down some knowledge.
