Shaking a phone to read text messages is as intuitive as swiping your finger across the screen to unlock it, but once you're trained it becomes second nature. In this case, ShakeSMS is an app for Nokia phones that lets you jostle your phone to view an incoming SMS. Jigger it again to go back to the home screen. That's pretty much all the app does, but it does it well. [ShakeSMS via Phonemag]

Symbian only!
Sounds like a fun gimmick, but honestly, I can just see a lot of "hey I sent you a text did you get it?"
"no, my pocket must have read it while I was walking the dog and forgot to tell me about the new message."
I want to see it work like an Etch-a-sketch.
Need to erase those messages? Shake it, baby!!
Can it mash potatoes? Can it do the twist?
What about keylock (which appears to be disabled whilst viewing the new msg). Definitely a problem when trying the obligatory Will It Blend (tm).
Pointless.
Give us Shoogle already.
worst. video. ever.
that's a nice way to get all the juice out of accelerometer... apple should take some hints for the iphone... and hopefully now with 3rd party apps people will let their imagination fly.
but still, nokia rules, finland rules... apple... nothing against them, really nice products...but there's still something missing.
Does that Nokia have an accelerometer built in or is it using the camera to detect movement??
The other day i was imagining shaking my phone left or right to see the previous or subsequent contact then up or down to dial.
@Crazysamz:
yeah - the n95 and n82 have built-in accelerometers built-in
if this is freeware - i might just have to give it a shot - if for nothing more than novelty - but i agree with workingonyourinvoice - depending on just how sensitive the app is, i can see it answering messages on its own while youre walking...
^ those built-in accelerometers are built-in - i just wanted to make that clear...
=-/
@Kricket: A little redundancy (and some redundancy) never hurt. Rest assured that your message has come through loud and clear.
I thought it'd really read it.
Did see how long it took him to get to that sms app on the Nokia? Ha! I dont miss those days .....
yawn
