Reuters's reporting that RIM, the company that made the BlackBerry you love so much, is having a complete North American disruption of service right now. You probably won't be seeing the messages in your inbox from your coworkers asking whether or not your service is working (because theirs isn't). At least you'll have something to read later. Or....maybe not. Last time this happened (early 2007, the result of a software upgrade gone awry) all messages that failed during the outage were lost forever.
OMG WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!
ah. was going to try and find out why i couldn't send emails.. xD
thanks giz!
I should have known, when I stopped getting boss-spam for long enough to reply to most of the _other_ people in my inbox....
mine seems to be fine... and has been...
ahh, the joy of not having a crackberry. the iPod touch version of gmail, not running through blackberry's server, is running smoothly and perfectly right now.
Yeah, this blows.
woowhoo......yay....my first blackberry outage!!! I thought for a sec T-mobile didn't get my check in time.
sms seems to be going through, just email and service provider msgs are down.

So, should I send out an email about the email being down?
its coming back up - i have to go update the uppities of my firm. oh btw, who was boasting on blackberry being down? u just gave me something to laugh at HAHA!
reboots may be necessary to reset network connections.
mine has worked all day and is working now. why can't mine be broken too?? it's not fair!!
IDK how long mine has been down... i have enjoyed the peace lol... can this happen every day at 5pm?
What about Verizon subscribers who own a blackberry... the service seems fine here.
mine's working. verizon 8830 in MA on BES.
Haven't noticed any interuption with my 8100 in Texas.
I'm on T-Mobile in Seattle on BIS, and I'm still getting mail and able to browse. Is RIM telling ATT that it's affecting "everyone" so their feelings don't get hurt?
good mobile messaging has yet to go out like this for our company (touch wood). i'm very glad with the decision for good mobile over blackberry...twice now :-)
According to my sysadmin, Rogers said RIM said it's now officially over.
Hm...my Windows Mobile was fine all day! Imagine that, relying on your own company's infrastructure to keep things up and running instead of sending all your email through Canada.
What a concept!
I just love that the blackberry service being down is national news in North America. Just reaffirms I'm with the best service....
It's back up! And I love getting my email in a few seconds with 2 outages for less than 10 hours total over 5 years versus the slow and unusable Windows Mobile OS..
Ugh. Exactly why I hate that Blackberry's have to use the special Blackberry Services. Not only do you have to worry about your carrier's network but you have to worry about the Blackberry servers themselves.
@Audioeric:
Here here
@MONSTERGOC: You wouldn't be the first or only ;)
I wonder how many people were simultaneously shitting bricks...I believe we might have a new US record, Bob!
I´m in Argentina and the service it´s not workin neither. I called a thousand times to my carrier to check out what´s going on and they had no idea. Thanks for the info, hope this will be fixed soon.
Yea, it's interesting reading the posts here. We are in the process of switching from Sprint/Nextel over to Verizon so I have users on both networks right now. Only the Sprint/Nextel users noticed anything. The Verizon users seemed to continue on as normal. Sounds like someone's covering their Ashes....
