Lock Up Your Routers—Google Restarts Street View Fleet

The international fuss caused by Google accidentally recording our data has been put behind it, with the planet-aggregating search giant now restarting Street View recording around the globe.

In a post on its Policy Blog today, Google once again reiterated how sorry it was about all that—and that it won't happen again thanks to new data protection protocols agreed by independent security specialist Stroz Friedberg.

Which means the people of Ireland, Norway, South Africa and Sweden are about to find themselves recorded by Google's Street fleet, as it heads back out to map Earth. [Google Policy Blog via Reuters]
