The man charged with taking off a Colorado shopper’s finger while stealing his iPad is in trouble again: He’s charged with trying to have his victim killed. Apple lovers are a passionate bunch, just usually in a more productive sense.

Brandon Darnell Smith, 21, allegedly sent a letter from jail ordering the hit, according to the Denver Post. Intercepted by Denver cops, it read, “YOU GET THIS DONE! AND I GO ON ANYTHING I’ll rob a bank if you want me too… If you do this, case is dropped.” The man he allegedly wanted dead, Bill Jordan, had his finger stripped to the bone in a tug of war with Smith and another robber trying to take Jordan’s Apple shopping bag, according to the charges against Smith. His finger was later amputated. As that old Apple ad had it: Here’s to the crazy ones.
