On the one hand, turning old dumpsters into employee housing is clever recycling. Which is good! On the other hand, you're living in an old dumpster—which is why the Chengmai factory in China has spruced the place up.
From the photos, the dumpster digs don't seem too bad—a cheery facade, a small gym, and hey! Internet access! The entire structure consists of only ten containers, which now house 40 laborers—so we can assume quarters are pretty tight.
And whether the facelift is more a cosmetic attempt to mask the fact that these guys are living inside of small trash crates, or a genuine effort to make their lives easier, is another question entirely. [cinaoggi]
