It’s clear that Rupert Murdoch and Steve Jobs hold each other in high regard, aligning their companies, to some extent, for the ambitious new iPad-only newspaper The Daily. But Jobs doesn’t just build, Murdoch says, he destroys, too.

That’s what Murdoch said after yesterday’s press event, during an interview with Fox Business Network’s Neil Cavuto:
Murdoch: I think this is the end of the laptop.
Cavuto: You do?
Murdoch: Here we have the man who invented the personal computer, then the laptop. He’s now destroying them. That is an amazing life.
And while I’m not sure Rupert’s history is quite correct on the laptop account, he’s got one thing right: When you’re in the business of making new products, some of your old ones get left to gather dust. [Paid Content]
