Comparisons to the MacBook Air have already been made of the just leaked Lenovo ThinkPad X1, so we won’t berate you with them here (ok, just one: It’s slim too!). Instead, what’s unique?

To start, the “specs” mentioned in the headline are a bit more robust and power-consuming that what was pushed out of Cupertino late last year, starting with a 2.5Ghz Core i5 chip and a single-slot 8GB RAM stick. Next up is USB 3.0, eSATA, an SDXC reader and some kind of “hybrid Digital Display Port” that will allow users to outpur using DisplayPort of HDMI.

In at least one area outside thinness the X1 is also aping the MacBook Air with its purported lack of an optical drive. RIP, dude!

The X1 is rumored to be arriving sometime in May, possibly 17-20, for about $2,290. [Macann via Electronista]
