Around the block we go again with another rumor that suggests the iPhone 5 may be a dual-mode device with support for both CDMA and GSM wireless networks.

This latest rumor comes from TechCrunch which claims to have the logs from an app that was tested with an iOS 5 device, presumably the iPhone 5. The device supposedly used mobile network codes and mobile country codes from both Verizon and AT&T.

While having one iPhone to rule them all would be fantastic, this feature may or may not pan out. Apple could easily scrap the idea of a world phone at the last minute. It’s not that hard to do. Just look at the Verizon iPhone 4. It has a dual-mode Qualcomm chip, but its GSM capability is not turned on. [TechCrunch]
