The wait is almost over: AT&T is bringing the LTE ruckus with two new Android smartphones: the HTC Vivid and the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket. They’re very similar, but hey, forget specs for a minute: LTE, finally.

The Vivid (left) packs a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 4.5-inch 540×960 display, 8 MP camera, and 1080p video recording. The Skyrocket (what a name!) bumps up the CPU to 1.5 GHz, and sports a lower resolution (800×480) SuperAMOLED screen of the same size. They’ll retail for $200 and $250 respectively (with contract renewal), when they hit on November 6th.

Keep in mind AT&T’s only running LTE waves in nine cities at the moment (Boston, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Athens, Ga., Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio). So you won’t be able to really use these phones like they’re meant to be used across most of the continent. But it’s a good, overdue start to getting awesome speeds everywhere. [AT&T]
