Perhaps not content with its first physical store in Manhattan, Amazon has confirmed that it’s also opening pop-up stores in San Francisco and Sacremento in time for the holidays, too.

The retailer will open its San Francisco store in Westfield San Francisco Centre, a mall located in the heart of downtown San Francisco on Market and Fifth streets. It’s not clear where the Sacramento store will appear. An unofficial source tells GeekWire that the San Francisco store could open as soon as Wednesday October 22nd.

While these stores and a counterpart over in Manhattan may be as much a marketing effort as a genuine consumer service, they certainly signal a push by Amazon to make their offering more physical on the run up to the holidays. Expect to see Kindles of all kinds, the new Fire phone and, we suppose, some services focussed on the rest of their business—like, you know, deliveries and returns. [GeekWire]
