The Prime Day Deals

The versatile, entry-to-mid all-rounder in the range is the Hypershell X Pro S, which finds an appealing balance between price and performance: It’s suitable for everyday use as well as taking in the great outdoors. The MSRP is $999, but in the Amazon sale you only pay $849—that’s a drop of 15% or $150. Buy from Amazon.

If you’ve got extra to spend and want more power and greater battery range, there’s the Hypershell X Max S, which is designed for more serious hikers and runners—think steeper climbs and improved endurance. Here the MSRP is $1,499, and the 15% discount being applied to the whole range takes it down to $1,269, a saving of $230. Buy from Amazon.

Interested in the ultimate in exoskeleton performance-enhancing tech? The Hypershell X Ultra S has similar specs to the X Max S, but swaps steel and aluminum for titanium materials, and offers a dual-battery setup for twice the range. With a 15% discount, the $1,999 MSRP goes down to $1,699, a significant drop of $300. Buy from Amazon.

Certain features are common across all the X Series kits from Hypershell. They all come with a Hyperintuition End-to-End AI System to keep the robotic support in perfect sync with your body: That means a 0.31-second response time (how long the exoskeleton takes to respond to your physical movement), and a 97.5% gait synchronization (how closely the robotic movements match your own).

The performance of these models has been assessed and certified by two third-party testing labs well respected in the field, TÜV Rheinland and SGS, and with each X Series model you get an All-Day Ergonomic Comfort Package: A soft-pack suspension system, a three-zone waist pad, ergonomic support for your lower back, and honeycomb anti-slip silicone wherever the exoskeleton touches your body.

Whether you’re on a long-distance run, clambering up a rocky mountainside, cycling through the countryside, or just running everyday errands, the intention is that your body gets to do more with less effort. If you’re out and about with friends or family this fall, or heading somewhere new, it could be the ideal upgrade (or gift).

How the models differ

Besides the prices and discounts mentioned above, there are a few key specs worth knowing about to help you parse the differences between these three models and purchase the one that’s right for you. The headline spec is the maximum output power the unit can deliver when pushed: up to 800W on the X Pro S, and up to 1000W on the X Max S and X Ultra S.

Maximum output power combined with torque is the strength with which the frame can actually push your limbs, and for maximum motor torque we’ve got 18 Newton-metres (N-m) on the X Pro S, and 22 N-m on the X Max S and X Ultra S.

There’s a similar split when it comes to maximum speed assistance, or when the motors stop providing aiding your movements (similar to an e-bike boosting your pedaling): It’s 20 kilometers-per-hour (about 12 mph) on the X Pro S, and 25 kph (about 16 mph) on the two more powerful models.

Battery life is important, as it’s going to affect how far you can get before you have to move under your own steam again. On the X Pro S it’s 17.5 kilometers (10.6 miles), on the X Max S it’s 30 kilometers (18.6 miles), and the X Ultra S has room for two batteries and so can get you 60 kilometers (37.2 miles)—way beyond marathon length.

Those battery estimations are for economy mode, and on top of that battery saving configuration, you’ve also got 10 different ‘intelligent’ modes which adjust the exoskeleton for activities such as climbing stairs, running, and cycling. The X Ultra S adds two more: Dune and Snow. All three models, meanwhile, can switch to give resistance to your limbs and act as exercise equipment on the go.

What’s also worth noting while you make your deliberations is that the X Ultra S swaps aluminum alloy for titanium alloy, for greater durability and a little less weight, and an improved carbon fiber mix. You do get some extras for that premium price.

All of which should give you a good idea of which Hypershell X Series model is the right one for you, and where you want to make your savings. The Prime Day deals at the top of this page won’t carry on indefinitely however—you’ve got until October 12 to make your decision and see what one of these powerful devices can do for you.
