The Inquirer is reporting a leak about AMD’s new dual-core Athlons which are to be launched tomorrow.
We saw a document in which an AMD official states that it will launch those CPUs tomorrow and that it will brand them AMD Athlon 64 X2 with speed variations of 4200+, 4400+, 4600+ and fastest at 4800+. We don t know their actual clock speeds.
It appears the AMD solution consists of two 64-bit chips stuck together with HyperTransport, suggesting that the potential clock speed may be in the high 3-GHz range with a marketed speed of around 4 GHz, but that s pure conjecture and I like making stuff up. No word on form factor or chip size.
