Apple insiders have told the Wall Street Journal that the Cupertino Kid is in talks with Intel to build an Intel-based Darwin MaPC or whatever you want to call it. These sorts of rumors—especially when they come from the IP ninjas at Apple—are usually unfounded, but the business model is sound. Dell, it seems, is saturating the market with cheap PCs and, as a result, driving down Intel chip prices. By teaming with the Karmann-Ghia of computers, Apple, they can create a subset of chips that are sold at a bit of a premium and cash in on the artsty fartsy market.
