Apple launched the AirPods Pro 3 and has not discounted them by a single dollar on its official store since. Amazon is a different story: the AirPods Pro 3 are currently $199, down from their regular $249, a 20% cut on Apple’s most capable earbuds that you will not find anywhere on Apple’s own website. Over 10,000 units sold last month on Amazon suggest buyers have noticed the gap.

Heart rate sensing, live translation, and the best ANC on any earbud

The AirPods Pro 3 remove up to twice as much unwanted noise as the Pro 2 which was already the benchmark for active noise cancellation in the in-ear category. The new acoustic architecture delivers fuller bass, more detailed clarity across the frequency range, and more natural vocals than the previous generation, which is the kind of improvement that is immediately obvious when you switch between the two. Spatial audio with dynamic head tracking places sound in a fixed position relative to the room rather than your head, creating a genuinely immersive listening experience for music, video, and games that standard stereo cannot replicate.

Heart rate sensing is the feature that most separates the Pro 3 from any previous AirPods generation. Built-in sensors track your heart rate and calories burned across up to 50 workout types, feeding data directly into the Health app with access to Move ring tracking, step count, and Workout Buddy powered by Apple Intelligence. That turns a pair of earbuds into a fitness tracker without requiring an Apple Watch on your wrist, which is a meaningful shift in what the product category does. Live Translation uses Apple Intelligence to translate conversations across language barriers in real time, which works through the earbuds without needing to hold up a phone or open an app.

The hearing health suite adds a home hearing test, a hearing aid feature with automatic Conversation Boost for clearer communication, and active hearing protection that monitors and limits exposure to loud environmental noise. Battery runs up to eight hours with ANC active on a single charge, or up to 10 hours in Transparency mode using the hearing aid feature. Five ear tip sizes provide a more secure, personalized fit than the four sizes the Pro 2 shipped with, and next-generation Adaptive EQ customizes the sound signature to the geometry of your specific ear canal in real time.

Sony’s WF-1000XM5 sits around $180 to $200 and delivers competitive ANC but none of the health sensing, live translation, or Apple ecosystem integration. Samsung’s Galaxy Buds 4 Pro runs $250 with similar limitations. At $199, the AirPods Pro 3 are priced within range of the competition while doing things no other earbud on the market currently does. With over 9,100 reviews at 4.5 stars and the kind of feature set that makes every previous premium earbud look conservative, the 20% Amazon discount is the right entry point for anyone who has been waiting for a reason to upgrade.
