ATI Launches PCI Express Notebook Chipset

By

Reading time 1 minute

ATI’s new chipset, the Radeon Xpress 200M, is designed to run with either low-power Pentium M or standard desktop chips and supports PCI Express, a new peripheral standard that offers 200MBps transfer rates. There are few devices that currently support PCI Express, but that’s not stopping anybody.

The chipset is one of the first integrated PCI Express systems. It will be extremely interesting to see the first real crop of PCIe devices even as we re watching the PCMCIA slot disappear from some newer laptops.
