The Plusdeck 2 is a tape player for your PC. While we agree that this product had to exist, we have to agree with the reviewer when they balk at the $149 price point. For that much, I’ll just plug my old stereo into the line-in and wait an hour. The Plusdeck fits into a standard 5.25-inch slot and also records direct line inputs like mics and appears to let you record, through a patch cable, streaming audio. Pirate-tastic!
I personally have about twenty tapes that mean something to me—the 216 mix tapes I made for “that special someone” who never called me back, my rendition of Mandy sung in duet with my dog—but I don’t need a special device to remind me of that pain.
