Dyson revealed a new vacuum cleaner yesterday, the DC12, which is making a good claim to be the world’s smallest vacuum cleaner. With dimensions that would keep it inside an 8 by 10 by 12-inch cube box, the tiny vacuum also has the ability to “communicate by phone,” presumably for diagnostic purposes, as the vacuum will send its entire usage history and serial number to the Dyson call center if a mobile phone is held up next to it. But if you want the smallest and most powerful vacuum on the planet, be prepared to cough up as much as $700, plus import costs (at least until Dyson starts selling the DC12 here). I’ve been seeing ads for the DC08 on bus stops here in New York lately, too. Dyson knows how to make an eye-catching machine.
