The good folks at Xtatix.com have offered one of their new 1GB flash players, the Pocket Candy. This twee player has an FM tuner, live radio and voice recording, backlit LCD screen, and supports USB 2.0. It's Plug and Play with Windows XP, Mac, and Linux so you can just drag and go.
Now, for the contest: This is an essay contest. Each essay should be no more than 500 words and be in English. The topic is quite simple: Which gadget would you give your grandma and why? Does grandma deserve this Xtatix Pocket Candy to listen to Glen Miller or Cream? Does she deserve a PSP and Coded Arms? Or does she need something else, like a Prius or an Estes rocket or a Mac Mini? Extra points for humor, wit, and a description of how dear old gram is still caught in the 1950s and what she has to say about these new-fangled devices.
Send essays to tips at gizmodo dot com with the subject "GRANDMA ESSAY." Failure to follow these rules will result in public ridicule. We will post the top essays next Monday, August 1st, and allow Gizmodo readers to vote on the best essay. The winner will receive the prize directly from Xtatix.
Good luck.
