IRS Says It Will Use AI to Go After Tax Dodgers
Tech companies weren’t the only ones racing ahead with AI applications. In early September, the Internal Revenue Service announced it would use AI to identify and route out wealthy tax filers who use “sophisticated schemes to avoid taxes.” The IRS says the new AI-aided system will prioritize issuing audits for higher-income taxpayers who bring in more than $1 million in earnings every year. AI will also be used to initiate investigations into 75 of the largest US partnerships.
