The GoPro HERO13 Black is the top-of-the-line model in the company’s lineup of action cameras. What distinguishes the HERO13 Black from previous models is the HB-Series lens compatibility. The camera will automatically detect when a lens or filter is attached and adjust accordingly, so you can capture images and videos with macro, ultra-wide-angle, anamorphic, and neutral density lenses without having to go into your menus. Although the HERO13 Black retains all the fundamental features that have made this product line popular, the addition of new optical capabilities adds more versatility to the camera.

You can get the GoPro HERO13 Black on Amazon for $349, marked down $81 from $430 for a 19% discount.

An action camera that can go everywhere and capture everything

The HB Series lenses are at the core of the HERO13 Black. Auto Detection lets you simply attach a lens, and settings will load automatically without ever having to search a menu for an appropriate shooting mode. The Ultra-Wide Lens Mod extends the 90-degree FOV to 177 degrees for capturing fast-action shots or wide, sweeping landscape shots, while the Macro Lens Mod captures extreme details of a subject when shot extremely close. The Neutral Density Filters allow you to control light levels and introduce motion blur for added visual drama, and the Anamorphic Lens Mod provides Widescreen video that includes flare characteristics similar to those found in Cinema Glass.

Video performance reaches across a wide span of resolutions and frame rates. The 5.3K60 mode delivers 91% more resolution than 4K, and you can pull 24.7MP stills straight from your footage using the GoPro Quik app. Burst Slo-Mo arrives for the first time on the HERO13 Black, hitting 400fps at 720p for 15 real-time seconds, with higher-resolution options at 900p 360fps and 5.3K 120fps. HLG HDR adds richer color depth and smoother gradations, and GP-Log encoding with LUT support gives you more control when grading in post.

HyperSmooth 6.0 anchors the stabilization, keeping handheld footage steady through high-motion activity and rough conditions. The included Enduro batteries push runtime to roughly 2.5 hours on a charge, depending on your resolution and frame rate. A 2.27-inch rear touchscreen and a 1.4-inch front display handle framing and status checks, and voice control lets you start and stop recording without touching the camera. The redesigned mounting clip either screws a mount directly into the body or flips out the traditional fold-down fingers, depending on what you are filming.

Waterproofing reaches 33 feet on its own, so any dive deeper than that will need the separate Protective Housing accessory. If you want full editing tools in the GoPro Quik app, you will need a paid subscription rather than the free version. Battery life also drops faster during heavy shooting at the highest resolutions and in cold weather, which is worth planning around for longer outdoor sessions.

At $349, the GoPro HERO13 Black is a meaningful discount on GoPro’s most capable action camera to date. Pick one up on Amazon while the discount holds for the new HB-Series lens system with automatic detection.
