HP, Others are Killing Us

By

Reading time 1 minute

Just a little bleeding-heart whining this morning. We’ve all kind of known about this for quite a while, but think about it: all the electronics we buy with such giddy abandon a) require massive amounts of water and other natural resources to manufacture b) get dumped into backwater bays where entire populations of scroungers pour off the precious metals and leave huge slag heaps of silicon and flux in the surf.

By dumping a pile of broken electronics in front of HP, Greenpeace has done little except to look like—as they say in French—a bunch of douches. However, the issue is still pressing. Therefore, here’s the Gizmodo challenge for all you soul-sucking OEMs—create a system to recycle and reuse electronic parts. The first company to come out with the “Eco-Tree-Love SFF PC” gets a gold star and the undying admiration of the granola set.
