The Eyes of My Mother
Another debut film, this 2016 release from writer-director Nicolas Pesce explores the strange life of a woman who grows up on an isolated farm protecting some rather extreme family secrets—then starts adding her own dirty deeds to the pile. The Eyes of My Mother is shot in beautifully bleak black and white, a choice that amplifies its artistic qualities while also protecting the viewer from what would otherwise be some extremely vivid gore.
