The Baseus for MagSafe Portable Charger attaches to the back of an iPhone and allows wireless charging. This is the point of using a magnetic portable charger, since it eliminates the cable between the charger and the phone. Qi2 certification means it delivers a full 15W of power, unlike a non-certified magnetic pack. Capacity is 10,000mAh, and several features make this product convenient to travel with, including a foldable kickstand built into the back.

Head over to Amazon to get the Baseus for MagSafe Portable Charger for just $30, down from its usual price of $50. That’s a $20 discount and 40% off.

A magnetic 10,000mAh battery pack with a built-in kickstand

The main reason the magnetic connection matters is Qi2 certification. Before Qi2, a magnetic pack could connect to your phone but deliver low power because the coils didn’t align. Qi2 added magnetic alignment to its specifications, ensuring that the coils line up properly and allowing a full 15W to be delivered to the battery.

Using a wireless charger changes how you use a portable charger. When a phone charges via a cable, it needs to stay in one place while the cord hangs down. If you pick up your phone, you have to pull the pack along. A magnetic charger connects the two so you can hold and use your phone like normal, making scrolling through messages or taking calls easy while it charges.

A small kickstand pops out of the back of the pack and positions the phone in landscape view. Without needing another stand, you can watch videos on a tray table on a plane or position your phone during video calls. Since the kickstand takes up no space when folded, there are no bulk issues, and the pack sits flush against the phone most of the time. Anybody who has propped a phone against a coffee cup to watch something will get immediate use out of it.

The 10,000mAh capacity will give you approximately 1.5 full charges for a recent iPhone, which should help if you are going on a long trip or a weekend without access to an outlet. You charge the pack via USB-C using whatever cable is already in your bag rather than something proprietary, and you can charge another device from the same port at the same time.

Since it is relatively thin, you don’t have to take the pack off your phone and store it separately in a bag. You can keep it attached and still fit it all in a pocket. Any iPhone 12 model or later can use this product, and many Android models in a magnetic case are compatible as well, so a household running both platforms can use a single pack rather than buying two.
