Can we still call Mint Mobile the new kid on the wireless block now that they’re celebrating their 10th anniversary? If their latest offer is any indication, Mint Mobile is still shaking up the market with incredible deals on their 5G cellular service at prices that the competition just can’t match. Their latest is their greatest: Mint Mobile is celebrating its 10th anniversary by offering new customers any 6-month plan for just $10 per month.

This birthday blowout covers all four of Mint’s current plans. The 6GB, 17GB, and 23GB tiers are all $10 per month, and so is the Unlimited plan, which is what really sets this offer apart. A 6-month Unlimited plan for $10 per month comes out to $60 paid upfront, which is what many competitors charge for just one month. Pricing reverts to standard plan rates after six months, but Mint’s standard rates are incredibly competitive for a service that uses T-Mobile’s 5G network — the nation’s largest.

Pure Speed, No Slowdowns

Mint’s Unlimited plan operates without data caps or throttling under normal conditions. Customers who use more than 50GB in a month may see reduced speeds in congested areas during that billing cycle, which is the standard network management language every carrier includes at the Unlimited tier. That’s a breath of fresh air compared to many of the competing providers, whose Unlimited plans layer in multiple tiers of throttling at different thresholds depending on which plan you paid for. All of Mint’s service tiers include coverage on the Nation’s Largest 5G Network, free mobile hotspot, free calling to Mexico, Canada, and the UK, and other great perks.

For all of Mint Mobile’s many perks — and there are a lot of them — one thing they don’t offer is the carrier retail experience. Mint Mobile has no physical stores, no longterm new-device installment plans to tie you down, and no bundled streaming perks thrown in to justify a higher monthly rate. What it does offer is straightforward pricing and a network that covers the places most people actually spend time. If you already own an unlocked phone or a device compatible with T-Mobile’s network, there’s no hardware hurdle to discourage you from switching.

Ten Years and Counting

The basic appeal of switching to Mint has not changed over ten years. You pay upfront for a set period, you get a discounted per-month rate in exchange, and there are no contracts, no activation fees buried in the fine print, and no hardware installment plans tying you to a specific device. That model originated as a differentiator when Mint launched in 2015 as Mint SIM, and it has stayed intact in the years since. The upfront payment structure is what keeps the per-month rates low, along with the lack of brick-and-mortar retail locations. This 10th anniversary deal offering six months of any of Mint’s plans for just $10 per month, however, is the biggest and best offer they’ve made in their decade of revolutionizing mobile service. A single month on a major carrier’s Unlimited plan can run $65 to $90 before taxes, depending on whether you are on a multi-line discount. Mint’s standard Unlimited rate is significantly lower than that, and at $10 per month for the first six months, you are paying less for half a year than most carriers charge for a single billing cycle.

Mint’s tiers below the Unlimited level are ideal for light cellular users, and while Unlimited’s post-deal pricing is a winner, Mint’s standard pricing starts as low as $15 per month. All are available in prepaid increments of 3, 6, and 12 months, and when one plan ends you can renew at the same length or switch to a longer or shorter plan, and also move up or down the data limits.

Ten years is a long time to operate in the ultra-competitive wireless space, and most carriers regularly shuffle price points, quietly change plan terms, and make other moves to maximize their profit at your expense. Mint Mobile has spent their first decade doing the opposite, and for its anniversary it is marking the milestone with its best deal ever: any 6-month plan for $10 per month for new customers.
