DVD players, which now sell for $.99 at most stores, are pretty old hat. However, the Lexicon plays just about any kind of disk under the sun, from HD DVDs to SACDs to disks full of JPEGs and MP3s. And, because it is high-end audio gear and not some 5 buck Panasony product, it’s really expensive.
Most importantly, it has a HDMI connection, which lets it go straight into an HD display sans all that upcoding and downcoding that goes on in seedier AV cabinets.
