Macrovision Patents Designed to Crush P2P

We’re too dumb to figure out what specifically is going on here, but apparently the Interwebs are very excited about Macrovision’s patents designed to prevent file sharing. This smacks to me of marketing hype (“Naw, Frank, your content will be safe, man. We’ve got PATENTS!”) but it’s an interesting question to bring up: how will the big three, or actually the big two, Sony and MS, keep content safe within two of the most powerful and networked living room consoles to date? Ubiquity breeds hackers, and hackers, as we saw from two posts ago, are happy sitting in a cafe and talking about cracking streams until the sun comes up.

Just a point to ponder.
