I have an old iPaq MC-1 Jukebox that’s as big as a VCR, holds 20 GB of ripped CDs, and sounds like a jet taking off. I love it, but it’s just so loud. That is exactly what is keeping the PC out of the den. Networking and UI are secondary. It’s the fans. Your TV doesn’t rev up to 4600-RPMs before it turns on, does it?
Transmeta, who have been pretty quiet of late, are introducing a fanless Media Center that could—and we’ll see about this—push Media Center and Media-Center-alike stuff into the living room.
