Verizon is Unfolding Like a Flower

Verizon Wireless, following Sprint PCS' lead, is now allowing third parties like Monstertones and Ringingphone.com to sell ringtones on their network. Obviously, the A&R folks deep within Verizon's twisted bureaucracy didn't see the Crazy Frog ringtone fad—the William Hung of Europe—taking off overseas and they're now trying to cover their tracks to gain street cred with the kids.

Does this really matter? Not incredibly, but it forces Verizon and the other PCS carriers to uncripple a few of their phones to allow this to happen. Obviously, it's a minor loss in revenue for Verizon, but it's so nice to be able to hear Don't Phunk With My Heart in MIDI.
