No real info just yet, but there are some murmurs that VIA, they of the Small Form Factor fame, may be launching a Socket 479 compatible CPU to compete with/replace the Pentium M. With lines like these:
Some tier one motherboard manufacturers are going to support such a CPU and at least one Taiwanese company is already working on such a design.
It’s entirely possible that someone is making something up, but the promise of a low-heat, low-power, low-cost (?) CPU from the small form-factor experts at VIA is pretty exciting. Kinda makes me perky.
