Cab drivers in New York City are getting their panties in a twist over a proposed plan to install monitors in the back of cabs. The monitors would display commercials and other forms of entertainment, but what is upsetting the drivers is the fact that these displays also have GPS devices that track location when the meter is running. The cab drivers are protesting this because the GPS device is a violation of their privacy and the units will cost upwards of $7,200, which the cab drivers will have to pay for.
I understand being upset over having to pay for the units, but invasion of privacy? Give me a break. Do the cabbie's have a case here? Hit the comments and let us know. Get a commenting account here.
