I want a psp again so bad...
...Lumines is practically moaning my name
sweet....!!
Now all I need is that mic and i'm good to go!
Nice! Downloading this now! Wait...I don't have any means to communicate verbally without that mic. Ah well, I still enjoy my PSP!
Since when do gamers talk to real people that aren't 12 year old boys with squeaky voices and rubber trigger fingers.
3.9 M33 on the way.
It's only for the new PSP's (the slims) how come i get punished for buying this crappy thing when it came out. No good games and now the first cool thing to come out in a while i can't use. DAMN IT!
Just downloaded it....the user interface looks pretty nice.
But I guess I'll be needin' a headset now.
I think an AIM MSN YAHOO Client is in order now.
@Jesustron: Hopefully we don't have to wait too long. My PSP has been Proprietary Sony Firmware free for over 2 years.
You can actually use the web browser to log into the web page version of AIM, and use that.
It's not quite the same, but IM's on the PSP can be done already. :D .
Great, now I need some friends with Skype and a mic to go with my PSP. I won't be having neither for a long time.
Do we have to pay $20 for it ? .. No ? didn't think so ..
damn.. i need to exchange my "old" psp with the s+l
Hehe, lets wait for DarkAlex, i think that him, and the homebrew scene will bring Skype to PSP1000.
Anyway...3.90m33 coming soon.
Does anyone know why the PSP-1000 will not get Skype? Are there any hardware limitations? (i.e. the RAM?)
man, I shouldn't have sold my psp, dayyym. I never thought that skype would come to the psp!
Thats really cool... I want a PSP now. Who knew that suspension of Skype for PSP indefinitely only meant a month or so??? Love it!
@Ignis: Best Buy, 20 bucks, all day long.
@defn:
A German article states, that the 1000-series does not have enough memory with "only" 32 MB. However, I was not aware that Skype really requires that much...
Here's the link to the German article [www.heise.de] .
@ TOPBRAVO222, Kyang...
I use AimOnPsp.com for that...
I'm going to be watching PSP-Hacks and the Noobz site for a hack. Hey if its free i would carry around my psp instead of my phone anyday!!
@raizer012345: and your wifi-router, as well?
So can someone explain the appeal of skype to me? I mean, if I have a cellular telephone device for all those times I am not near a wireless network (99% of the time), why would I want to use something different for when i am?
@theespacepope: well, not everyone has unlimited cell minutes, so Skype is a money saver in those situations. And for overseas calls it's pretty much the only way to go; my cellular carrier charges outrageous fees for calls to just about anywhere except the US. Skype is free to any PC and cheap to any landline. And goodness knows if you go overseas and want to call back to the US it's pretty much impossible unless you rent a cell phone, pay an arm-and-a-leg to use payphones or hotel phones, or pay your carrier for the privilege of remaining a customer when you're on vacation.
I tested out Skype on my PSP and was a little disappointed to find out that the peripherals from my old PSP don't fit my new one. And the PSP Slim doesn't come with remote control, so I guess if I'm going to use this I'll have to buy more peripherals. Also, the quality of what I was able to test was not that good, a fact that I attribute to the limited bandwidth of the 802.11b connection on the PSP. Adequate, but not great.
How about a web browser for the PSP that doesn't suck ass as well?
WHEN ARE WE GETTING GPS?!
Is that all that 3.9 gets you is Skype?
Then I won't waste my time with my 1000. I got my internet radio in 3.8 and now my life is complete.
@Papercutninja: available at [www.amazon.com]
@feckineejit: i am not sure if i got your point.. a web browser is integrated in the psp anyway. nothing new.
@shonks: No software included? What's the point of a GPS without software? And it's not really available either.
@shonks: I think his point is that he wants a better browser. The browser on the PSP is passable, not more. If I were asking for upgrades I think a better soft-keyboard would be the first improvement though...
@weatherman: well the german [www.amazon.de] offers a bundle with car accessories, maps for various european cities on UMD and the GPS sender.
maybe we are ahead of the US in this case ;)
I use skype as a voice link when gaming.
Too bad I don't have a PSP anymore it would be very handy.
I downloaded it and like the interface, but man "typing" on the PSP is a PITA. Oh well, amazon.com has the headset for $15.99 so I'll see how Skype works on my slim. Trying to find friends who use Skype is like finding the proverbial needle in a haystack. Lol!
@weatherman: thank you very much for not immediately assuming I was flaming. Your reply was exactly what i was looking for.
Skype saves me $ all the time. I was paying ATT around 200 a month for international calls, now i just instructed everyone i talk to download skype on their PC's and have a cheap mic handy. leave it open all the time and VOiLA !! you got free calls anywhere in the world from PC to PC or If i call from south America to the US its $0.02 cents a minute.
Crap, I need the stupid remote for the headset! Erg... Fluck it-I'll use my Mylo for Skype.
