The stairs bookcase was cool, but this is an entire igloo-like bookcase structure that you can actually use as a miniature dwelling. In fact, this "Uroko House" is built around a bed, which makes it one hell of a place to sleep for any kid—whether they like to read or not. There are no written instructions on how to make your own, but the images in the gallery help illustrate the process. [Flickr via Freshome]

Man, that is the coolest thing i have ever seen in my life! And to think im sitting around with empty space in my living room thats doing nothing for me! Hello, fort!
Cool. I like the fact that the shelves are open and the books complete the 'wall'.
lovely! But who read paper books anyway?
Thats pretty neat. To bad I dont own to many books. Otherwise, I'd make one.
It's not for a kid though, it's a guy and his significant other's flat.
I would rock the shit out of that if I had the room.
I want one!!!
To bad I don't have any books.
I have the perfect spot too.
Hmmm whats a good substitute for books?
@fosho4: DVD's or games! Or porn!
do they still print porn?
if not, old computer peripherals might work. i know i have tons of extra printers/monitors/desktop cases floating around... it could be the ultimate server rack... then like Lieutenant Barclay in that one episode of TNG, you could "become" the machine.
Man, that was lame on so many levels... I'm gonna go hide.
Oh my god; Jobs was right.
Nobody does read any more.
*shakes head in disbelief*
@bigbadjon: Yes, the do. *stuffs all magazines under mattress*.
This is really awesome, too bad I don't think I've finished reading half as many books as they have on the shelves.
You guys are weenies. That's about half the contents of one bookcase in this house.
I want one of these with closed walls and a la-z-boy recliner inside.
sweet literary comfort.
lots of people still read books, the reasons they read have narrowed a bit maybe but people definitely still read books, jobs is dead wrong on that one... also if office cubicles were like this worker productivity would either shoot through the roof or fall through the floor... or both
It's kind of sad that ya'll think nobody reads anymore. If you don't then it's something you definitely need to look into.
I've got loads of books, just not so good with the woodworking. My book igloo would look like some misshapen bizarro version of the original.
Pink flamingo out front is a nice touch.
Cool until an earthquake sends the entire Encyclopedia Britannica collection onto Juniors head at 3AM.
This would make a nice "hideaway" spot if you could convert it to take up the entire wall and put a white backdrop behind the bookshelf :D
Which is what i kinda thought it looked like from the first picture .
That.
Is.
Awesome.
Seriously, I love unique bookcases (curved ones, crooked ones, ones that fit the books so perfectly that it looks like the books were there first, and the bookcase grew around them, etc.), so this is right up my alley. Like AdmNaismith, I like how the books themselves complete the "wall" - want a window? Slide some books over!
