War Through an iPhone Camera Lens

The Marine in the photo above is in the middle of a fire fight against the Taliban in Afghanistan’s Helmand province. AP photographer David Guttenfelder caught the moment, and many others just as captivating, with his iPhone camera.

Guttenfelder brought along all of his professional equipment too, of course. But to capture those moments of daily life, he also packed his iPhone in his flak jacket pocket and ran his shots through a Polaroid film filter app. The results is a curiously intimate menagerie, a close read of life at war between the explosions.

There are many, many more of them at the Denver Post. They should be required viewing. [Denver Post Plog]
