Sprint’s second 4G Android phone, the Samsung Epic 4G, is going to be available August 31 with a $100 rebate to make it $250.

The quick specs: 1GHz Samsung Cortex A8 processor, 4-inch Super AMOLED capacitive display, Android 2.1 (not surprising that it doesn’t have 2.2 yet), 3G/4G hotspot, 5-megapixel camera with auto focus, LED flash, 720p video recording, front-facing camera for video chat, Samsung’s AllShare and Social Hub features, 3.5mm headset, the normal Sprint apps, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, compass, six-axis motion sensor and an included 16GB microSD card.

The phone is based off the same core as the other Samsung Galaxy S devices, but is the only one with 4G, and the only one with a slide-out keyboard. You can also reserve the phone starting August 13, if you’re worried about a Sprint EVO-type situation where you can’t seem to get your hands on one. If you do so, you have to buy your phone by 6PM local time on September 1.

The physical specs:

• Dimensions: 4.9 inches x 2.54 inches x 0.56 inches (124.8 mm x 64.6 mm x 14.2 mm) (LxWxT)

• Weight: 5.46 ounces (155 grams)

• Battery: Standard removable 1500mAh Lithium (Li-on) battery

• Memory: 1 GB ROM, 512 MB RAM
