Flips! Dead, killed, gone, and murdered by smartphones. But that doesn't mean they're bad little buggers. Hell, for the right discounted price, Flips can still be awesome little video recording machines. Here are the cheapest places to score a Flip before they all disappear.
And remember, prices will drop even more as the days go by. We'll keep this post updated with the best Flip dealzmodos but if you see an amazing deal, be sure to shoot me an e-mail.
Flip Mino HD
The previous generation Mino HD can be had for $80 refurbished at Buy.com but if you're looking for the latest model with image stabilization, it'll still cost you a pretty penny (for now, at least). The best deal we found for the latest generation was Amazon shilling the Mino HD for $174 (from $230).
Flip Ultra HD
The bargain basement Ultra HD will get even cheaper in coming days but for now it's $160 brand new on Amazon ($200 retail, 2 hour recording time ) or $115 at Wal-Mart ($150 retail, 1 hour recording time) for the latest generation model. We expect the Ultra HD to hit much lower prices in the near future.
Update: The Ultra HD is down to $99 at Wal-Mart now.
The SlideHD, the not so lovable oversized oddball of the Flip trio, can be had refurbished for $140 from B&H. That's $90 off the retail price of $230. If you're not comfortable with buying refurbished (hey the company is dead anyway!), you can score a new SlideHD for $194 at Amazon. Not a great dealzmodo yet, but the the price will surely come down as more retailers try to get rid of dead stock.
One last note! You might be buying a dead product but you're not buying a bad product. There were many reasons to kill off the Flip series, especially with the pocketable HD cameras growing less and less important in our HD smartphone days, but it doesn't mean that the Flip sucked. They were fun and good little video cameras to have! Dead or not, that's still true.
Oh, by killing off Flip, it also means Flip's software and sharing program, FlipShare, will also die. But uh, that won't be missed. Like at all.
