Moammar Gadhafi is now filling boats with one ton of explosives and sending them out to sea with a crew manned by dummies. In Gadhafi’s latest military strategy, these pilotless boats drift until they find a NATO target to destroy.
It all started Monday morning when NATO ships and helicopters patrolling the waters off Libya noticed two inflatable boats. These unusual vessels were bobbing towards Misurata, a site of fierce fighting between Gadhafi and the NATO-backed rebels. As they approached, the NATO crew discovered the boats were a ruse and promptly destroyed them with small-arms fire. Too bad they didn’t have those laser weapons on board. Watching them blow up Gadhafi’s boats Star Wars-style would have been awesome. [Wired]
