Vizio’s 21:9 CinemaWide LED HDTV Arrives in March

Vizio’s new line of 21:9 aspect ratio televisions that we told you about in January will be hitting store shelves next month and will retail for $3500.

Why 21:9? That happens to be the same ratio as Cinemascope, the dominant feature film format of today. It will allow viewers to watch 21:9 widescreen movies without the ubiquitous black bars. 16:9 video can either be up-scaled to fit or the extra space can be filled with embedded apps. [The Verge]
