iPad Workers’ Faces Still Ruined After Last Year’s Explosion

Late last year, workers in a Chinese factory, toiling to polish the back of iPads, were the victims of an enormous explosion. Apple’s industrial blast killed four and injured over 50. Today, many workers are still horribly disfigured.

NPR interviewed a group of the Pegatron survivors. Most of them aren’t doing too well:

The fireball singed He’s face, leaving the upper half badly burned. More than two months later, the 24-year-old still looks like he’s wearing a bright, red mask. He worries his disfigurement will make it harder to find a wife.

Even when these incidents “go away,” they’ll never really go away. [NPR]
