Android got some love this week with the launch of Instagram, the social photo sharing app already madly popular on the iPhone. Updates rolled out to Hipmunk and SwiftKey, and an app that lets you control your phone from a web browser, Phonedeck, appeared. If you were excited for opening day, you'll be pleased to learn that Yahoo dropped its fantasy baseball app as well.
Instagram: After a long wait, Android users finally got Instagram this week. The free social snapshot app includes all of the same features included in its iOS counterpart, from more than a dozen photo filters, to instant sharing on Facebook and Twitter. It's already been updated a couple of times to iron out a few kinks in the first release. Free
SwiftKey 3 Beta: This time-saving keyboard replacement app is now in its third version, though you have to get on the VIP list to get in on all the predictive text goodness. The new version includes a tool that detects when you've left a space out of a word and one button from which to choose your punctuation. $3.99 after 30-day trial
Yahoo Fantasy Baseball: Batter up! America's pastime kicked off this week, and with it came Yahoo's app for fantasy players. From it, you can track your team, manage trades, access message boards, and do all the tasks necessary to ensure a successful season. Free
Hipmunk: The updated version of this travel search app now integrates with your calendar, scouting out travel that works with your schedule. So if you need a flight to Atlanta, it's going to sniff out one that gets you there in time for that lunch meeting you've already scheduled. Free
Phonedeck: Taking advantage of the flexibility afforded by Android, Phonedeck lets you operate your phone from your computer. From within a web browser, you can send texts, make and reject calls, and tap into all of your contacts. Free
