A Cheap Nexus 7 Is Your Deal of the Day

Today, 1 Sale a Day is selling a refurbished Nexus 7 tablet for $140 with free shipping. This is a solid deal, but there are some things you should consider before you buy:

First, the Nexus 7 on sale is a refurb. And there’s no information as to who refurbished it. It will come in a brown box, and although the sale page says it has a 90 day warranty, it’s not clear who honors it. Second, this is the 8GB model, which is a discontinued version. When the Nexus 7 first came out, the 8GB model cost $200 and the 16GB cost $250. Then, back in October, Asus doubled the storage sizes and killed the 8GB model. That might explain the unusually low price. Finally, the Nexus 7 is nine months old. While there are no reliable rumors about its successor, a new Google Nexus tablet could be announced in the next few months — Google I/O is in May — which would cause old Nexus 7 prices to drop like a stone.

If you’re fine with all those caveats, then you should pick one up. A tablet that doesn’t suck for $140 is a steal. [1SaleaDay]
