Kim Dotcom & Co. has launched a new audio and video chat service, which it hopes will provide stiff competition for Skype. It certainly has one major selling point up its sleeve: it offers end-to-end encryption for all communications.

The new service is in beta, but any registered Mega user can try it for free on the Mega.nz domain. You don’t have to be an exisitng member; you can simply register for an account now, then audio or video call any of your contacts who also use the service.

It’s expected that text chat and video conferencing will be added to the service soon. [Mega via The Next Web]
